British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils, together with the British Council Philippines, visited 糖心短视频app (CvSU) on February 21 to share education and research opportunities in the United Kingdom (UK) for students, educators, and policymakers.
Spearheaded by the CvSU International and Local Collaboration and Linkages Office (ILCLO), the collaborative engagement titled 鈥淒estination UK: Exploring Scholarships with the British Ambassador鈥 at the S.M Rolle Hall gathered university officials, students, and faculty members to raise awareness, facilitate networking, and enhance bilateral relations between the two countries through educational diplomacy.聽
Among the CvSU officials present were President Dr. Hernando D. Robles; Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro; Vice President for Administrative and Support Services Prof. John Xavier B. Nepomuceno; ILCLO Director Prof. Ma Veronica P. Pe帽aflorida; Public Affairs and Communications Office Director Prof. Adora Joy T. Plete; and members of the Administrative Council.
In her message, Ambassador Beaufils tackled how the UK and higher education institutions such as CvSU can strengthen people-to-people relationships through education, cultural exchange, research and development, gender empowerment, and other collaboration opportunities in areas like agriculture, food security, health, and environment.
These are among the programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing UK-Philippine partnerships on priority issues concerning trade and economic development, climate change, environment, maritime security, and research.
She also cited the 鈥渇undamental need to reinvest in basic education鈥 to enable the younger generation to 鈥渄evelop their talents and potentials, and contribute to the sustainable long-term development of the country.鈥
Meanwhile, British Council Head of Education Pierre Pecson and Account Relationship Manager Abegail Boboyo gave an overview of the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), and discussed how interested students can pursue their academic aspirations through the scholarship opportunities being offered by universities in the UK.聽
Some of the top scholarship offerings include Our Women in STEM Scholarships, and the Chevening Scholarship Programme.
The British Council is the UK’s international institution promoting cultural exchange and educational opportunities. The organization promotes peace and prosperity by fostering relationships, understanding, and trust between people in the UK and countries worldwide.聽
Across the Philippines, the British Council has trained over 6,000 people in agriculture, construction, and information technology, and more than 1,500 Technical Vocational Education and Training educators, local industry associations, and cooperatives to increase access to skills development and improve job opportunities for Filipinos.聽
