In bold stride towards advancing gender equality and inclusive societies, 糖心短视频app (CvSU), through its Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC), held the 8th GAD Research Conference with the theme 鈥淓mbracing Community-Based Initiatives to Prevent Gender-Based Violence and Promote Inclusive Societies,鈥 October 18-19, 2023, at Veranda, Hostel Tropicana, CvSU, Indang, Cavite.

The conference commenced with an inspiring opening and inspirational message delivered by Vice President for Research and Extension Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac where he highlighted the importance of research in shaping a more inclusive and equitable society, and set the tone for two days of engaging discussions and knowledge-sharing.

On the first day, the morning session featured plenary talks that delved into crucial aspects of gender-based violence and inclusivity in research.

University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao – School of Management Associate Professor Dr. Glory Dee Romo followed with a discussion on 鈥淚nclusivity in Research,鈥 emphasizing the importance of diverse perspectives in the research process.

In the afternoon, Mr. Agreda returned to explore 鈥淯sing a Gender Lens in Research,鈥 offering practical strategies for incorporating gender considerations into research methodologies.

Meanwhile, Knowledge Management Center Head of the Publication and Communication Division Dr. Alvin William A. Alvarez shared insights on 鈥淲riting to Get Published,鈥 providing valuable tips on effectively communicating research findings and contributing to the academic discourse.

The second day of the conference was dedicated to the presentation of complete research projects. Researchers from diverse disciplines shared their findings, contributing to a rich tapestry of knowledge on gender-based violence prevention and inclusive societies.

A special presentation from the study 鈥淭he Impact of Parental Interchanged Role to the Family in Cavite鈥 authored by Mr. Paulito V. Hilario, Ms. Armi Grace B. Desinga帽o, Ms. Mary Joyce E. Talamente, Ms. Mary Jane A. Amparo, Mr. John Christian Paolo M. Belen, and Ms. Jezreel C. Del Espiritu Santo was presented. Afterwards, a special citation was awarded to them for being a Gender-Responsive Research based on the Harmonized GAD Guidelines (HGDG) assessment tool of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

Dr. Paulito V. Hilario presented their research titled 鈥淭he Impact of Parental Interchanged Role to the Family in Cavite鈥; and the awarding of the certificate.

GADRC in-charge of Data Banking and Publication and Research Coordinator Ms. Maria Czarina P. Sioco presented the reactors: retired Professor VI Dr. Marietta C. Mojica, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) faculty member Dr. Racquel G. Agustin, and College of Education (CED) faculty researcher Dr. Rhodora S. Crizaldo, after which, the participants were introduced.

The 10 presenters from the various campuses, colleges, and units of the 8th research conference were given 15 minutes each to discuss their study, and an additional five minutes for the questions and suggestions of the reactors.

After the deliberation, the research study 鈥淕ender Analysis Through Gender Mainstreaming Strategy: An Android-Based GAD Primer Application for CvSU-CCC鈥 by Mr. King David J. Agreda, Ms. Alma G. Fiesta, Mr. Castor Troy D. Ordaneza, Ms. Arienne L. Samartino, and Mr. Dave O. Villareal got the first place.

Meanwhile, 鈥淪OGIE and Perceptions About LGBTQ Workplace Climate of Science Teachers in Secondary Schools of Dasmari帽as City, Cavite鈥 by Mr. Jjohn Mark Louie R. Noel placed second.

Bustamante, Ms. Jonalyn B. Edad, Ms. Taylor Collins T. Narcelles, Ms. Samantha Nicole A. Olaso, Dr. Agnes C. Francisco, and Ms. Julie Ann Perey were awarded the third place.

As the conference ended, GADRC Research and Development Unit Head Dr. Ma. Cynthia Rundina-Dela Cruz delivered the closing message where she expressed gratitude for the active participation of researchers, emphasizing the significance of their contributions to advancing GAD initiatives.

The closing message encapsulated the spirit of collaboration, learning, and commitment that defined the two-day event moderated by Ms. Sioco.
